OK, OK, OK...An Updated Blog

We have had so many wonderful days since my last post.

Here are the highlights...

Garrett and Ethan had a wonderful summer. They spent some great quality time together. Ethan finally learned to enjoy the swimming pool! Last year he HATED getting wet...pool, bathtub, whatever. This year was a different story.

Garrett had a VERY eventful summer. He had 6 weeks of a workout/training camp at the High School, then 3 weeks in a swimming camp in Magnolia (about 30 min away), while simultaneously learning to drive at Driver's Ed in Conroe (30 min away in the opposite direction), and then a week of Football Camp. Ethan and I enjoyed sitting in the stands cheering "Bubby" on. Garrett's quite the swimmer and will be on the High School swim team in about 3 weeks. I'm sure he'll be a champ!

My summer was spent driving him all over the place...I put a lot of miles on our new car this summer!
Blayne did plenty of travelling this summer. He was promoted recently and has impressed the pants off his superiors...not surprised! The last month he's not travelled as much and we've all enjoyed the time together.

In August we came up to Arlington and spent a few days with family. The highlight was rock climbing at Dino Rock with Garrett's cousins.

Then, a few weeks later Ethan and I were back up to the Metroplex for one of Blayne's work events in Grapevine. We stayed at the Gaylord Texan Resort (you HAVE to go if you ever get the chance!) and was able to spend time with Daddy and with Blayne's parents (who are also in the boating business). My mom and sisters even came up for a day of shopping!

Ethan found his favorite toy...a fuzzy "monster" rolling backpack. He takes it everywhere!

The Gaylord is beautiful! You should go if you ever get the chance.

The Ike Issue
Shortly after the Grapevine trip, hurricane Ike hit. We stayed thru the storm and we all slept downstairs for safety. Watching the wind and rain was eerie. That night we lost power and water. After one day of that I said "forget this!" So off we went BACK up to Arlington for week. This time, my parents were out of town and we had the house to ourselves. Even though I would have loved to have seen them, it was probably a good thing. Ethan was a little off that week. I think watching the hurricane, sleeping downstairs, the loss of power at home (hot and sticky), then leaving home for a week was a little much for him. He didn't eat for over a week!

We didn't have a lot of damage...just a big mess to clean up. I had some great pictures, but my camera got messed up and we lost several great pictures. I've been pretty bummed about it, but what are you gonna do? Ritz was able to salvage a few. Here's the only one i have of our backyard...

For a few weeks we had the latest, greatest, coolest toy from BRP...

The Spyder!

All three boys loved having this around! Garrett and Blayne drove around town a few times and got plenty of honks and pointing..."What is that?" and "Where can I get one?"

The boys are all very much into cars, trucks, etc. Ethan is no exception. He gets all excited when he sees a motorcycle or tractor drive by, so this was such a thrill for him walking into the garage each day and seeing the Spyder sitting there....wait, was that Garrett, Blayne or Ethan...I've forgotten which.

Look...Dimples!

This is new! Ethan's dimple (right cheek only) just showed up a month ago! We're wondering if he'll get the other one. But as far as I know, he's the only one with a dimple on either side of the family!

Natalie, I thought Ethan really looks like Adam in this picture!

The Dance

Garrett was asked to escort a girl in our neighborhood to the local Cotillion dance. According to Danielle's mother, the director of the Cotillion was very impressed with Garrett and said he was the most polite and well mannered boy at the dance! (Not that any of us are surprised!)

The Pumpkin Patch

We hit the pumpkin patch last night. Ethan thought is was great! Our neighborhood is having a Jack-o-Lantern contest on Friday, so Garrett's planning to win the whole thing!

Fun Videos

Ethan wants to be just like his big "Bubby" Garrett and play football. We were watching the Cowboys' game the other day and Ethan just turned around and tackled his Tigger chair! It was so funny! Here's a little we got on film...

Ethan LOVES Harley! Here he is trying to give Harley a kiss...

I couldn't resist this one...we call it "Pops"
